The September 4 Earthquake
To all our customers and partners in Canterbury, we sincerely hope you have not suffered personally or business-wise.

We ourselves have been very fortunate, and not been greatly affected. Our business premises are fine, and we are open as usual to serve your mobility or general vehicle needs.

My take from this event for those of you outside of Canterbury - please look at these images of what was a few days ago tidy and fully working bits of our town - then look around your city and figure what may be vulnerable and if you need to review any of your perceptions of what is safe and sound in the face of nature's forces !

Quake effects

Other things we have been up to over recent months ...

New Products
We are adding new products to help people with their everyday mobility. Some recent ones are:

Seat Lumbar Supports
We have electrically inflateable lumbar supports which install into the seat. These are great to get just the optimum support, and especially for people doing a lot of driving.
We can also make specific sizes of non-inflateable supports, either installed in the seat or.added as a cushion. If you have a favourite car from an era when seats had little lumbar support, or as is the case even in many cars today, the design is just not good for your back, then consider having this corrected.

Seat Heating

Seat Heater Switch

This is the ultimate in comfort for cold climates, and allows the vent air to be kept cooler to prevent drowsiness.

The power is switchable with 2 heat settings. It installs under the seat upholstery.

Cruise Control

This can be added to any car, and greatly eases the stress on long distance driving for anyone, whether you use a hand or foot accelerator. It disconnects instanty on touching the brake. Suitable for manual or automatic transmssions.
Once you get used to it, you will find you even use it around town a lot, to keep your speed where it should be. It may pay for itself in preventing fines!
We have a new brand of this with a good range of control switches for different positions to suit your preferences - right or left side of column, or dash mount.
Sun-Strike

Slide down visor extension

At this time of year especially when the sun is low, sun-strike can be a problem, with the visor not going low enough to prevent sudden blinding as you drive around a corner.
We can fit a tinted visor extender which slides down to double the coverage of the visor, but more importantly still allows you to see through it. It retracts when not in use.
Microwave Reversing Sensor
This is a different method of reversing warning device from the usual Ultrasonic type. Each has their advantages. Microwave has these features:
  • No holes in the bumper - fits behind it
  • Works thru mud and in all weathers without cleaning - ideal for business or farm vehicles
  • Much longer range than ultrasonic
Ask us about your needs and we can fit either microwave, camera or ultrasonic warning devices to suit.
Power Seat Adjustment
We can use one of several techniques to add power adjustment to your seat. This makes transfer very much easier, allowing the seat to easily be put right back for transfer and back to normal for driving.

Do you have a product you want but cannot find anywhere? Ask us: we will find or make it !  We have access to a very wide range of innovative automotive accessories.

Other Popular Items

Fold upTransfer aidTransfer Aids
These fold down devices are more convenient and stable than transfer boards, and reduce the likelihood of a mishap occuring.

Electric Boot LiftersBoot opener

These fully open and close the hatch of a wagon, SUV etc. at the touch of a button. Where the weight of the boot lid, or the reach up to the boot (when open) are difficult, this makes getting around just that much easier and safer.

These can be fitted to any vehicle or door type, just tell us what you have. The hatch can still be opened manually as a backup, but normal operation is by a wireless keyfob control.
Spinners with Electric Controls

Electric controls at your finger tips

Many people have spinners to aid steering. Now a new product exists which allows switching of critical electrical controls with the steering hand while still on the spinner.

Indicators, Beam / Dip, wipers or any other function can be controlled with a conveniently placed multi-trigger switch. A lower cost version controls 2 functions, the full version many more.
Reversing Sensors with In-mirror Display

In-mirror distance display

Reversing sensors with the head-up distance display overlaid on the rear-view mirror are a popular item for many, whether or not they have difficulty turning to see backwards.

Call in to see a demo of this first at our office if you are thinking of fitting a rear view camera - you may be surprised at the results !
Wheelchair or Lift Maintenance or Improvement
If your chair is tired and needing some work, or you want it adjusted, amended for convenience or specific sport use, drop by to see what we can do.

Lifts also need routine maintenance to keep them running well.
Wheelchair Drive Assist
We can add electric assist to wheelchairs. These are able to be used in conjunction with the AbiLoader to provide the maximum assist, and can avoid the need to migrate to a much heavier and bulkier power chair.
Auto Electric Clutch
If you want to keep a manual transmission car, but have difficulty with clutch operation - these are the ideal solution. This product is a superior solution, providing as progressive and smooth operation as with the foot.
